Privacy policy

The short version

Phone-Clone keeps its copy of your phone on your own computer. We never receive your texts, calls, contacts, pictures or files. This page explains the few things that do leave your computer, and what this website and our payment company see.

Who we are

Phone-Clone is made and sold by Ducklark LLC, 418 Broadway Ste N, Albany NY 12207, USA. For anything about privacy, write to support@ducklark.com.

The program on your computer

Everything Phone-Clone copies from a phone (texts, picture messages, call history, contacts, and in version 2.0 the phone's own files) is stored only on the computer where Phone-Clone is installed, in a folder you choose. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Keeping that computer safe, and backed up, is up to you.

These are the only things the program sends over the internet:

  • Update check. Once a day it asks phone-clone.com whether a newer version exists. It sends nothing about you, your phones or your texts. You can turn it off.
  • Your license. Near the end of a paid plan it asks phone-clone.com for the renewed license, sending only the license number. With the daily update check it also downloads a list of refunded licenses, which sends nothing.
  • Help pages. The "I'm stuck" buttons open a page on phone-clone.com in your web browser, like any other web visit.
  • The assistant, only if you turn it on. It is off until you turn it on. It uses your own Claude account from Anthropic, and the messages you ask it about are sent to Anthropic under that account. Anthropic's own privacy policy applies to them. Turn it off and nothing more is sent.
  • Away from home, only if you set it up. If you choose to reach your phone away from home, the connection runs through Tailscale, under your own Tailscale account and its privacy policy.

Phone-Clone talks to your phone over your own cable or your own home network. Your phone company, Google and the phone's maker are not involved in the copy.

Whose phone it is

Phone-Clone is for your own phone, phones your business owns (with the person using the phone told in writing), a parent's phone with the parent's agreement, or your own child's phone while they're under 18. The agreement is given on the phone itself during setup, and a notice stays on that phone. You are responsible for having that agreement.

This website

phone-clone.com uses no cookies and no advertising. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles every visit and keeps short-lived technical records (such as your internet address) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.

The download email list

If you leave your email on the download page, we keep your address, the "who is it for" answer if you gave one, how many confirmation emails we sent, and the dates you signed up, were last emailed and confirmed. We use it for one thing: to email you the download link when the free trial opens. Addresses that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days. We delete the whole list 60 days after the download email goes out. Every email has a link to remove your address straight away. The emails are sent through Resend, our email service.

Buying a plan

Payments are handled by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), our reseller and the merchant of record. Paddle collects your name, email, payment details and country to take the payment, charge any tax and send your receipt, under Paddle's privacy policy. From Paddle we receive your email, country, plan, and Paddle's order and subscription numbers, so we can make your license and help you. We never see your card number.

Emails to support

If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can help you and remember what was said. Please don't send us your texts or screenshots of other people's messages; we never need them.

Children

Phone-Clone and this website are not for children to use. You must be 18 or older to buy or use Phone-Clone. A parent who connects their own child's phone is responsible for that child's information, and we never receive it.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete anything we hold about you (your list entry, your license record, your support emails) by writing to support@ducklark.com. We answer within 30 days. We never sell or rent your information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. A big change will be shown in the program too.
